What’s On in Margate for the Rest of 2026
The weather may have changed and the sun is slowly disappearing but Margate does not wind down once summer starts to fade. The sea is dramatic, the galleries keep changing, the music and events move indoors, and the town’s independent venues give you plenty of reasons to keep an eye on the calendar.
There is still so much to see and do in Margate for the rest of 2026. From exhibitions and live gigs to family-friendly attractions and seasonal seaside walks, here is what to look out for.

Art, exhibitions, and creative days out
Margate’s art scene is one of the town’s biggest draws, and it remains a strong reason to visit beyond the peak holiday months. Turner Contemporary is the best-known stop, with changing exhibitions, sea views, and a programme that often includes talks, workshops, and family activities. If you're lucky and the tide is right you can see the Antony Gormley's "Another Time" sculpture.
The Old town is just as interesting. Independent galleries, studios, shops, and small creative spaces often have new work on show. If you like a slower kind of day out, build your visit around a gallery stop, then leave time for a wander through the side streets.
Live music, comedy, and nights out
Margate has become a strong live music town, with everything from touring artists to DJ nights, small venue gigs, comedy, cabaret, and late-night events. Dreamland remains a major name in the town’s events calendar, Check out the new Drill shed and what they have to offer.

Walks, and coastal moments
One of the best things about Margate is the coastline. Autumn and winter can be beautiful here. The light changes quickly, the sea can look spectacular, and the promenade is ideal for a walk before or after lunch, or show. If you prefer a quieter visit, weekdays outside school holidays can be especially pleasant.
How to plan your Margate visit for the rest of 2026
The best approach is to plan your visit. Margate is compact enough to enjoy on foot, but varied enough that a loose plan helps.
Before you visit Margate, check:
Event times and ticket availability
Venue age restrictions
Opening days for attractions and galleries as these often change during off season. Many restaurants shut on a Monday and Tuesday.
Train times and return options
Weather, especially for beach plans
Accessibility information if needed
If you are visiting at the weekend, arrive earlier than you think you need to. That gives you time to park, settle in, find lunch, and enjoy the town without rushing.
The rest of 2026 still has plenty left in it
Margate is not just a summer destination. The rest of 2026 still offers art, music, family days out, independent shopping, food, coastal walks, and seasonal events. Some visits will be built around a ticketed show. Others will be simple days of sea air, galleries, coffee, and a slow wander through town.
The best plan is to choose your main reason for coming, then let Margate fill in the gaps. That is usually where the best parts of the day happen.
